Art exhibition by, arguably, one of the world's top impressionist artist--25 Oct.-15 Nov 2003

The Colour of Light in the East by  Ekachai Luadsoongnern

This is the second solo art exhibition organized by Akko Gallery for the forefront Thai Impressionist artist Mr. Ekachai Luadsoongnerm.  Of course, Ekachai is noted for the numerous art exhibitions he has had (based upon his love of nature) both locally and overseas during the past twenty years.  With this art collection, the artist envelopes us with landscapes and flowering trees.

After a long journey of 2000 km by bicycle in Yunnan, China for a period of one month, Ekachai came back to stay at his farm, Moonlight Valley in Chieng Rai province.

It was a peaceful time living between rice fields after the harvest was over;   the atmosphere of haystacks filling the scene with light, colour, shade and shadow that Ekachai could observe and touch day after day.  This was the inspiration for his work.  The illumination there set off the colour of light and the colour of shadows all reflecting the surrounding ambience.

Although the style of his artwork emphasizes light, colour, and atmosphere, Ekachai's identity still shines through his brush and knife work:  touching, stroking, scraping with the influence of his emotions.  He has also created works which show his romantic side that of a sweet brushstroke.

His working style has influenced many new artists to work in the impressionist field and so he can now be considered the pioneer impressionist in Thailand and, arguably one of the best in this medium, in the world.
